Aston has student exchange agreements with over 100 universities, in 39 different countries around the world. This type of partnership facilitates inbound and outbound students to exchange to a partner institution for various durations: one term, a full year, or summer programmes.
Student exchange agreements are often limited to particular schools or programmes of study therefore please enquire at partnerships@aston.ac.uk if you have a particular interest in one of our partners.

We welcome students from our partner universities to study as an Exchange or Erasmus+ student within the College of Health and Life Sciences.
- Study Mobility (FY, TP1 & TP2 study possibilities into one of our UG programmes)
- Traineeship Mobility (research exchange)
- Erasmus+ Exchange (study and traineeships).
The application process to complete a student exchange within the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston differs slightly due to the structure of our UG programmes and the regulating authorities that oversee our professionally accredited programmes.

Currently, we are only able to offer full-year placements to prospective students, unless we have a specific agreement with the sending institution which states otherwise.
Traineeship opportunities are possible within all subject areas listed above as well as:
Note: applications for research exchanges will be based on availability in our clinics/labs as well as a review of qualifications and previous experience.
To be eligible for entry, students will need to submit the following:
- Up-to-date academic transcript (translated into English and certified)
- English Language certificate (completed in the last two years) – B2/C1 level
- Scanned copy of your passport
- Learning agreement/contract from your institution.

Aston University maintains strong relationships with partner institutions abroad, and works with employers to create placements around the world. We also participate in the Turing Scheme, helping students with funding to work or study overseas.

Aston has staff exchange agreements with over 50 universities, in 22 different countries around the world. This type of partnership facilitates inbound and outbound teaching or training activities with academic and professional staff.

These agreements have been developed to provide a clear academic route for students studying on specific programmes with our partners, and who meet the agreed entry criteria, to study at Aston. Glossary of Terms
Articulation: Under an Articulation agreement, students from a partner institution’s course who satisfy the academic entry requirements are automatically entitled (on academic grounds)to be admitted with advanced credits to enable them to enter an Aston University degree course in Year 2 or Final Year. These arrangements normally involve the transfer of credit from the partner course to contribute to the Award completed at Aston University.
Double Degree / Award: The student undertakes a programme resulting in an award where the partner institution recognise the credits gained at each institution leading to the full degree award.
Exchange Double Degree: Under the agreement, the student undertakes and completes an exchange programme for one academic year with credits awarded from both institutions leading to degrees awarded by each awarding institution.
Franchise / Shared Delivery: This is the process by which the University agrees to authorise a partner to deliver part or all of one (or more) of Aston University’s approved programmes.
Joint Award: The student undertakes a programme where arrangements are joint in all aspects, involving all partners in all aspects of programme design, development, delivery, assessment, management and decision-making on student achievement.
Progression: The student successfully completes an award at an institution or provider, to progress to the next stage of study at Aston University. For example a student progresses from a provider’s Foundation course to the first year of an Undergraduate programme or from a Pre Masters course to a Masters programme.
The award is a single certificate (signed by all partners) attesting to the successful completion of the jointly delivered course.For more information about these partnerships, please contact the partner institution in the first instance.
