Find the study space and equipment you need
A new quiet study space managed by Library and Learning Services is now available on the first floor of the Main Building between D and E lifts.
You will find, individual pods, bookable group study rooms and a community noticeboard.

Quiet study spaces can be found on ground, first and second floors. These spaces are for whispered conversation and mobile phones on vibrate
Silent study spaces can be found on the third floor. These spaces are for individual study with no conversation and mobile phones on silent.
Bookable group study rooms can be found on ground and second floor.

Social study space on the upper ground floor offers a range of spaces for individual and group work including access to screens and a kitchen area including a microwave and facilities to make hot drinks. This space is mobile phone friendly.
Quiet study space on the seventh floor offers spaces for individuals and small groups for whispered conversations and phones on vibrate. You will also find a kitchen area including facilities to make hot drinks and lockers for temporary storage. First floor offers individual booths and bookable group study rooms.
The third floor of the Library is a dedicated silent space.
The Library is usually quieter in the mornings before 11:00 and after 19:00 in the evenings.
There is quiet study space on the seventh and first floors of the Main Building.
The Social Study Space in the Main Building is open 24/7 via the out of hours entrance.
There is a dedicated postgraduate room on third floor of the Library.

MB G57 is a computer room for postgraduates.
There are 18 bookable rooms across the Library building and Main Building.
Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the ground, second and third floors of the Library and MB G52, MB G54 and MB G57 (Postgraduates).
Software available across the University can be accessed via the AstonApps portal.
Remember to save your work regularly either to your home drive or in your OneDrive space via the Microsoft 365 Portal.
Loanable laptops are available to borrow from the laptop cabinets on the ground and second floors of the Library and the Social Study Space in the Main Building.
They can be borrowed by students and staff using your Aston University uniCARD.
Laptops are issued without a power cable or mouse.
You will need your uniCARD to return your laptop.
You are welcome to bring your own devices and chargers to support your studies, sockets are available in all study spaces. We recommend staying with your device to keep it safe.
You can use the printers to print and photocopy on A4 or A3. You can also scan to email. Tap your uniCARD on the printers to access your account, the first time you do this you will be prompted to login using your Aston username and password.

If you are printing from your own laptop, tablet or phone, when you are on campus you can upload your documents to your print queue using myuniprint.aston.ac.uk.
You will need to be connected to the Aston Connect Wi-Fi network for this to work.
All new students are given £20 credit when they join the university and £4 per month after this to cover academic printing. If you run out of credit, contact the Digital Services Helpdesk where they can advise on how to obtain additional credit. Further details can be found on Solve.
